Below are some pictures of the USDA Pink Bollworm Rearing Facility. Dr. Ernie Miller, USDA "rears" the sterile pink bollworm that are released over the cotton fields. They are fed a diet containing red dye. This is what gives them their red appearance as compared to native pink bollworm. The insects are picked up from this facility in Phoenix, AZ and transported to the various airstrips.
